The Western Day Care Centres are divided into three programs; Infants, Toddlers, Preschool. Western Day Care meets all of the requirements of the Child Care Early Years Act. The programs are managed by two full-time Program Managers – one at each centre – whose responsibility is to ensure consistent quality care for each individual child. The supervisors act as a resource liaison between parents, children, staff, the centre and the broader community.
The programs are designed to provide quality care and education to the children, to meet the needs of each individual child and to challenge them at their development level. In order to provide experiences that do this, several centres of activity are set up; namely dramatic play, family living, creative, music, library, blocks, manipulative toys as well as indoor and outdoor active play centres. Through the interaction of the child, the environment, the other children, and the adults in the Centres, the child develops physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
